The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course

Ole Crabby:  The name of the hole, not a reference to Jack's mood
Crab shaped bunker on the third hole

Beautiful course and exceptional greens

We played 9 at the Cedars at Dungeness in Sequim. All the holes are named:  Ole Crabby, Clam Digger, Geoduck etc. The third hole (Ole Crabby) has a crab shaped bunker in front of the green. The sun came out and it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day....as was expected for the Sequim Sun Belt.

Friday is the First Annual Sonny Sixkiller Golf Tournament. Sonny was a quarterback for the U.W in the 70's and is currently a sports commentator...apparently he has some ties to the 7 Cedars Casino (Sequim) as well as this golf course.

Port Angeles Street Fair and Hurricane Ridge

Yesterday was the best day weather wise since we arrived in Sequim. We drove down to the city pier in Port Angeles for the "Arts in Action" festival. This festival began in 1965 and the main attraction is the American Masters Invitational sand sculpture contest. This event is the only North American master sand scuplture competition and is considered one of the major competitons for sand sculptors. The annual festival also features food vendors, live music,a car show and dozens of arts and crafts vendors.  Jack and I agreed that it was one of the best festivals we have attended.

After the festival we drove up into the Olympic National Park to Hurricane Ridge where the views out over the major Olympic peaks is spectacular on a clear day like this. Starting at Port Angeles, the seventeen-mile long Hurricane Ridge Road snakes up the side of the Olympic Mountains to 5,240 feet and a visitors center. The views are breathtaking (did I say that already?) and tame deer roam around the parking lot.

Sequim Bay Road

Uphill...Olympic Discovery Trail

Haha  An Omen...Nice waterfront home at the end of the road

I went for an early morning walk along Sequim Bay Road and came back to the RV park via the Olympic Discovery Trail. The trail climbs uphill for a ways before dropping back down to the road. The sign showing Jack's Way was at the top of the driveway leading down to a beautiful waterfront home. The place was not for sale but I got a kick out of the sign.

Sequim Bay RV Park

We had a great time at Fort Flagler with Katie,Derek and Madison. Went crabbing and clamming and feasted on seafood, then S'mores over the campfire. Madison really enjoyed watching the Eagle pair through binoculars. The day we went crabbing and clamming was beautiful and sunny. Kind of drizzly and grey otherwise.

We left Fort Flager this morning and headed down the road to our residence for a month at Sequim Bay RV Park. This park is nothing special but it is right across the street from the John Wayne Marina and has full hook ups, wifi, satelite, cable TV and laundry (where I am currently washing some clothes). It is clean and neat and the spaces are pull through and wide enought to park the truck alongside. We heard that the Wayne family still owns most of the land around here. The lady who checked us in to the park scared the crap out of me. I'm sure she would have given the Duke a run for his money if he tried any funny business. She told Jack "read these rules THROUGHLY and sign this waiver" yikes.

Looking forward to exploring Sequim and the real estate in the area.

As I sit here I am reading a bulletin board and this caught my eye about selecting fresh bread:

Bread is delivered fresh to stores five days a week. Each day the twist tie on the bread is a different color so you can tell which day your bread was delivered... Monday= blue Tuesday= green Thursday=red Friday= white and Saturday is yellow

Sunday at Fort Flagler

Fort Flagler Store

Camp Helper
Watching the Eagles

Jack and I left Wenatchee yesterday morning and spent the night on the streets of Tacoma...actually just in the 5th wheel parked in front of Katie and Derek's. Madison rode with us to set up camp at Fort Flager. Raining, but not cold...and the two bald eagles we watched last year are back in the tree nearby our camp.

We're right across the road from the Fort Flagler store where they have ice cream, firewood etc etc. We have S'More fixins...just need the rain to let up. Derek and Katie are coming up tonight.

Bird Humor

We left Spectacle Lake this morning around 8:30 AM. We had the 5th wheel all locked up,hooked up and ready to go when I felt something land on my chestral region...I got pooped on by a bird sitting on the wire above me! Ha ha real funny you damn birds. Had to go into Dan and Terri's 5th wheel to wash it off. Fortunately it didn't get into my hair or on any skin or it would have required a  completely new shower! Blech

We are stopped for the night at Wenatchee River County Park.  Did some laundry and the wifi sucks but is finally working. No satelite connection which means no TV....Jack rented a DVD. We sat out in a light rain and enjoyed Happy Hour. Acclimating ourselves in anticipation of  the Westside weather. We'll be spending tomorrow night at the Eberts in Tacoma before taking Madison to Fort Flagler for a few days. Jack has his crab license and is ready for action.

Drizzly Morning

Overcast Morning on Spectacle Lake

Rick and Jana, Me and Jack, Dan and Terri all settled in
Kelli relaxing after breakfast

Woke up to a slight drizzle this morning. Half inch of rain predicted along with thunderstorms tonight. Temps are still around 70 so it's not too bad.

Golfed yesterday at Oroville Golf Club. This is not an easy course! On many of the holes, if you don't hit the green just so, your ball flies off into the canyon.

Tight Squeeze

Our slide and the telephone pole...inches apart

Backed up to the rock wall

Finally relaxing in our new chairs

We left Bebee Bridge around 8:30 and made it to Spectacle Lake before the rest of the gang from the westside.  Dan and Terri need the extra roomy RV spot we had in the past for their new 5th wheel (which is beautiful!!). We managed to squeeze into the spot next door..barely...our slide is almost against the telephone pole and the back end is right up to the rock wall.

Weather is sunny and 80's. The fishing is suppose to be good but the lake looks awfully weedy right off the dock....so fishing from a boat is probably the best bet.

Beebe Bridge

We left Lake Sawyer yesterday morning and made it to Beebe Bridge on the Columbia River, near Chelan, and we got a good spot with some shade trees. All the river spots were taken. This County Park has water and power but no sewer hookups.

After we set up the 5th wheel we took a drive up to Manson, just past Chelan, to the Mill Bay Casino and were really surprised to see an amphitheatre there.  http://www.zvents.com/z/manson-wa/deepwater-amphitheater-at-mill-bay-casino--venues--5104385 This is a pretty small venue but there are some great acts playing here....this coming weekend, The Doobie Brothers. Also booked here were Dwight Yokum,Dierks Bentley,Smokey Robinson...some pretty big names for a small place.

Back to the 5th wheel where the A/C had shut off and it was stifling hot. The TV reception is sketchy and there is no internet service. I am currently at  a coffee shop called The Vogue in downtown Chelan while Jack washes the truck.

Here until Saturday morning and then over to Spectacle Lake.

Fourth of July

We've had a great couple of days at Lake Sawyer with Katie, Derek, Madison and some of Derek's family who came out for the weekend. The fireworks display put on by the Lake Sawyer Community Center was fantastic as usual and the weather has been sunny and warm.

Today Jack will start to pack stuff up in anticipation of our move to Beebe Bridge Park in the morning. Beebe Bridge is the halfway stopover to our Spectacle Lake destination later in the week and  is near Chelan on the Columbia River.  I am going to Madison's swim class in Tacoma with Katie.

Barbeque with Friends

Madison came out to the RV park again this afternoon, and to spend the night, as Mom and Dad are hiking early in this morning. She came with me and Jack to a nice barbeque along the Cedar River at Mel and Claudia S. house. Fellow Snowbirds Gary and Suzy L. are back in the Northwest and came out as well. The fish in this picture is on Mel and Claudia's deck. They were long time fishing guides in Alaska.
